An Ordinary Still Life Painting Except For The Dragons:  The Fantasy Art of Melissa Vance Goodman

10/12/2020

Artist Melissa Vance Goodman who lives and works in Portland, Oregon, creates beautiful still life paintings of fruit, books and tea kettles that also include dragons.  This makes her paintings both whimsical and spooky at the same time.  They invite you to come in, have a seat, have a cup of tea and pet these mythological creatures.

If you follow her Instagram account, she also shows you her process from sketch to final painting.  Sometimes, she even demos how she paints those amazing dragons, such as in the video demo below.  You can watch the complete demo at this link.  Make sure to visit her Instagram to see all the wonderful fantasy/sci fi art that she creates.

Should you be inspired to paint your own dragons or still lives,  get your art supplies with us at this link.

Great article on Melissa Vance Goodman. We love her work. However, Portland should be so lucky to have Melissa as part of their art scene. Melissa lives and works in metropolitan Seattle, Washington.
